When we first entered this building, a derelict wreck used as a chicken coop, we found ourselves standing in front of two stunning Byzantine arches running across the whole length of the building. Completely out-of-place and out-of-proportion in relation to the otherwise poor and narrow construction, these wonderfully unique elements became the pivot point around which we designed a two-bedroom family home that succeeds in both honouring and preserving the historical and almost romantic values of the old structures whilst creating a modern space, well-suited to its new owners.
